5 of the Most Common Plumbing Problems

What are some of the plumbing problems you have to watch out for around your home? Read on to learn about the most common plumbing problems.

Drip, drip, drip. There goes your money down the drain! If you have any of the common plumbing problems on this list, you’re losing money every minute.

Not only that but those issues can waste good water, which no one wants either. Learn which problems are the most common and how to fix them below.

1. Low Water Pressure

Have you ever turned on the shower ready to get pounded by hot water? Then you turn on the shower and it’s just not what you expected?

Low water pressure can be an occasional issue or something that plagues your house all the time. It could come from everything, from a pipe leak somewhere to the wrong showerhead for your shower.

The best thing you can do is check your shower aerator screen by taking your shower head off and cleaning it.

If that doesn’t work – call a plumber, stat! Leaks aren’t anything to mess with.

2. Clogged Drains

Speaking of shower issues, do you ever start out taking a shower and end up ankle deep in a bath? Slow draining tubs or sinks are a real issue.

Not only is it gross, but it’s usually the cause of built-up gunk in your pipes. You can try to clean the drain yourself with a drain snake or you can let a plumber do it for you.

To slow the time between drain cleanings look for a drain plug that catches hair and debris, keeping it from going down the drain. The TubShroom is getting a lot of love right now.

3. Not Enough Hot Water

If you find yourself running out of hot water faster and faster every day, it may be time for a new water heater. Unfortunately for your morning routine and your wallet, the average water heater only lasts eight to twelve years.

Getting regular service on it can extend its life, but when it’s on its way out, it’s better to saddle up and get a new one. If you’re not sure what the issue is or if it’s time to find a new water heater, call a plumber out and they’ll take a look for you.

They may even have a recommendation for a water heater in your budget.

4. Running Toilets

Does it sound like your toilet is always running? Or maybe it sounds like it’s still working on flushing about five to ten minutes after?

That’s a running toilet and not only does it run your nerves, but it’s also running up your utility bill.

We’re talking about gallons of water waste a day. That’s not something the earth or your wallet wants to deal with. Get a plumber out to tighten that toilet up for you and stop the runs.

5. Dripping Faucets

Is there a constant dripping sound in your house? What seems like an innocent and slow drip from your faucet is a seriously big deal. You could be spending anywhere from $20 to $100 a year on wasted water from drips.

Get it fixed to stop wasting water and money!
